People are going to misunderstand you. Get used to it. Get ready for it. Don’t spend your whole life trying to chase down every people who didn’t completely understand your meaning or intentions. Don’t waste your life defending your own reputation.
You take care of your integrity and God will take care of your reputation. Leave the defending of yourself in God’s hands, and you go out and keep presenting and re-presenting Him to a world who needs an understanding and a clarification of His intentions a lot more than they need a clarification of yours.
Thank you for this.

Epilogue
There was a time I thought I would never run out of things to say to you.
But I look at you, and I feel scooped out. I try to call up anything to tell you, but it’s all been said a thousand different ways, and I’ve run out of combinations. The bank of words is finite, after all.
"You could forget,“ she said, “you could forget about me, about us, about the way that we loved.
“Forget all of this, the memories that every street in this godforsaken town holds, the way that we walked down secret alleyways and felt the walls listening to our secrets.“
“This isn’t working. Not here, not now. This isn’t the right time to be making promises.
“So forget my voice, forget the stories I told you about when I was a child. Forget how I look asleep, the way I curl up against your chest. Forget the feeling of skin on skin, of pulling and pushing, closer and closer until there’s just an atom’s width between us.
"Forget my voice so when I call your name in a little while it’ll feel like the first time. We’ll try again. We will, we will. But first, before you remember, try to forget.
"
